Read, Write, Count
Read, Write, Count is a national campaign to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of Scotland’s children.
As part of the campaign, every child in primary 2-3 receives a free bag with books and activities to support their learning. In addition, the campaign provides advice and support for learning professionals and families via the Scottish Book Trust and Parent Club (this will open in a new window) through training events, online resources and handy tips. It is a key part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to raise attainment for all. Parental involvement in children’s learning is one of the best ways to improve educational outcomes for all children. Read, Write, Count aims to build parents' confidence, and encourage families to include easy and fun reading, writing and counting activities in their everyday lives. The campaign is delivered by Scottish Government, Education Scotland and Scottish Book Trust. Visit Parent Club (this will open in a new window) to access free resources and activity ideas for families. There is also a booklet parents and pupils for Primary 2/3 pupils.
